Taylors Afternoon Darjeeling

Taylors Afternoon Darjeeling

Darjeeling is in India’s West Bengal state, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Tea plants were first cultivated there on the steep hillsides in the middle of the 19th century at an altitude of between 600-2,000 metres. The cool, dry winter months and monsoon weather in the summer creating ideal conditions in the steep, well-drained soils for the tea plants to flourish. This unique environment results in a world-renowned and exceptional tea which has been referred to as the champagne of teas.

The tea leaves are harvested between March and September in four flushes. The top two leaves and the bud are plucked and processing begins on the same day. Taylors Afternoon Darjeeling comes from the peak harvest of the second flush, creating a delicate tea with a distinctive muscatel aroma which is much sought after by tea connoisseurs.

For the perfect cup, use freshly boiled water and infuse for 2-3 minutes. It can be enjoyed on its own, or with just a touch or milk or lemon.

Taylors Afternoon Darjeeling is available as loose leaf tea, or in packs of either 20 or 100 individually wrapped and tagged tea bags.

It is a truly exceptional tea and very definitely a firm favourite here at Mountane, and not just in the afternoons.
